I spent so much of my childhood in piano lessons only to learn when I got to university how much I really didn’t know. So much of my early musical education was hyper focused on classical repertoire, scales and technique that it completely ignored so much of what music could be.

After realising how little I knew, I went on a journey with music, discovering and rediscovering so much in the process. I studied music academically and learned to approach music from a completely different angle by working in recording studios in Dublin with bands as a producer and engineer.

Ultimately as a teacher I try to incorporate things that I’ve learned from all parts of my musical life not just scales and repertoire. I want to give my students the lessons that I wish my teachers had given me.

I do my utmost to cater to all levels of musicianship in my classes, music has been a wonderful addition to my life and I hate the thought of excluding people from the joy it brings. Many of my students have tiny hands and others have arthritis and I truly want to cater to everybody in between.

I often help prepare students for RIAM exams and have a 100% pass rate for all of my students, but if exams aren’t what you’re interested in I’m willing to follow your musical curiosity wherever it goes, be that performing, composing, learning theory or recording techniques.
